COVID-19 cases in India emerge: Over the previous four weeks, there has been a 52% spike in new COVID-19 cases in India, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). As to the most recent data released by the Union health ministry on Saturday, India experienced the highest number of new coronavirus infections in a single day since May 21, 2023, with 752 cases recorded.

There are now 3,420 active cases in total. Furthermore, as of Thursday, the country has 22 cases of the COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1, of which 21 have been reported in Goa and one in Kerala. According to authorities, there is no indication of a clustering of JN.1 variant cases in Goa, and everyone who has been infected has recovered without any issues.

On Friday, India reported a daily increase of 640 fresh COVID-19 infections, pushing the active cases to 2,997 from 2,669 the previous day, according to Union health ministry data.
